Desiccant Masterbatch

Desiccant / Anti-Moisture Masterbatch

Our Desiccant Masterbatch is an easy-to-use moisture absorber in pellet form. You add it straight to your material, and it soaks up the moisture in recycled and new PE and PP so bubbles, pinholes and streaks stay out of the finished product, often without a separate drying step.

Product Overview

What is Desiccant Masterbatch?

A desiccant masterbatch is a moisture absorber that comes as small plastic pellets. Recycled plastic and raw material pick up moisture from the air, and when they heat up in the machine that moisture turns to steam and leaves pinholes, bubbles and streaks in the finished product. Our Desiccant Masterbatch, Poly Active, mixes in with your material and soaks up that moisture before it can cause trouble, with no dust and nothing special to add. It is an industrial additive dosed with the resin on your production line.

On most PE and PP lines it also saves you a separate drying step. It is an easy, cost-effective choice for everyday production, and it works especially well with recycled and slightly damp material. You run it on your usual machines with no changes, and your output stays clean and consistent.

Applications

One additive, many products

Where Desiccant Masterbatch is used, and what it does in each application.

Plastic film and tarpaulin

Doses at the hopper with your resin, so film runs free of pinholes and streaks with no powder to blend in beforehand.

Blown FilmFilm & Packaging
Plastic garbage bags and bin

Feeds in with recycled granules, keeping bags clear of the pinholes and weak spots that cause tearing, with nothing to weigh by hand.

Carry & Garbage BagsFilm & Bags
PP woven sacks

Runs with the tape resin and leaves no powder in the mixing area, so tapes hold their strength and the floor stays clean.

PP Woven SacksRaffia & Woven
Moulded plastic bottles and containers

Goes in with the granules at the machine, so moulded parts come out free of blisters and streaks on your existing setup.

Injection & Blow MouldingMoulding
HDPE plastic pipes on a rack

Melts alongside the resin as it feeds, so pipe and fitting walls come out solid, with no air pockets or weak spots.

HDPE Pipes & FittingsPipe & Fittings
Thermoformed plastic trays and blisters

Goes in with the feed on the extruder, giving smooth, even sheet and profile without a separate powder blend first.

Sheets & ProfilesExtrusion
Reels and coils of coloured electrical cable

Doses cleanly with the compound so the coating goes on smooth, and no airborne powder gets near the line.

Common Questions

Desiccant Masterbatch FAQ

What is a desiccant masterbatch?

It is a moisture absorber that comes as small plastic pellets. You mix it in with your material, and it soaks up the moisture that would otherwise turn to steam and cause bubbles, pinholes and streaks. On most lines it also cuts down the need for separate drying.

How is Desiccant Masterbatch different from Anti-Moisture Powder?

Same job, different form. Desiccant Masterbatch comes as clean, dust-free pellets that are easy to add and handle. The powder is mixed in directly; the pellets are tidier and simpler to use.

Which polymers does it work with?

It works with PE and PP, whether new, recycled or a mix, on your normal machines. No special setup needed.

Can I get a trial sample?

Yes. Tell us your resin, line and moisture issue and we'll send a trial quantity with dosing guidance.

What is the minimum order?

It depends on the grade and how much you need. Tell us your line, the grade and the quantity you are planning, and we'll quote the minimum along with the price. A smaller trial quantity can be arranged for a first order.
